Gold DoE

Tryfan is still working on his Gold Dof E award, and this coming weekend is their final expedition. Too bad they are not going anywhere very exciting, and instead are essentially walking routes around East Sussex.  But I'm sure they will still have a great time.

Dash to Dallas

 Our girl made her way to Dallas to visit friends from Prin. Looks like they had a great time!

This week

Today I went into London to attend the premiere of a film that Emma B had sponsored which starred her friend (whose name I cannot remember).  It was at a theatre on the riverside, and it was an adventure in itself to get there and attend! Cat and I traveled together. 

Geothermal drilling in central London

 Today I joined my colleagues at Celsius Energy to talk about the plans for drilling and implementing a geothermal solution on a university campus in central London.  It was cool to see their set up.

Rhodri's birthday

We had a pretty low key birthday for Rhods today.  It was a lovely Saturday with not a lot on, and then we went out to dinner at Pampa in Cuckfield, then went to the Coach & Horses pub to meet up with Jules (since it is his birthday too) and various mutual friends.

Football tournament

 Now that I've joined the Lewes Womens Veterans football team, I've enjoyed playing some games.  Tonight we participated in a tournament in Ringmer.

Some beautiful days

We've had some really special skies this week - lovely peachy light, rainbows and dramatic clouds.  My favorite kind of skies.

Women's rugby match in Brighton

My old buddy Dave and his wife Jen, along with their friend Fiona came over to this part of the world with tickets to watch New Zealand play Ireland in the Women's Rugby World Cup match.  What a great day! I met them in Lewes for brunch at Bill's first, then we took the train to the Brighton stadium to watch the match.  It was a great day.

Venice, then home

Today we drove back down from the mountains, returned the rental car, put our bags into storage for the day and took a boat from the airport into the center of Venice! It was so cool to be able to do this!  Then we spent all day exploring around.

It was a beautiful and dramatic day in Venice, and we had a brilliant time exploring around before our evening flight.  ... And just like that, our summer vacation has finished :-(

San Martino di Castrozza - Day 3

We hiked out today after breakfast, and it was another spectacular day, though we didn't have any via ferrata climbing routes on this day. 

 

Quite sad its over! It was an amazing trip with such spectacular mountains.  Love this area so much.

We made our way back to the original hotel in town, spent time in the hot tub on the terrace, went out to dinner, and enjoyed our final full night in Italy.
