As a delayed celebration of our 10-year anniversary, Rhodri and I left the kids with their grandparents for about 24 hours and we had our own little adventure at Ojai Valley Inn & Spa. It was a huge success! We called a couple of times to check in, but the urchins didn't even seem to miss us. They were just fine, no crying or grouchiness when they were put to bed, and when they woke up on Friday morning, they weren't bothered that Mama and Daddy weren't sleeping in their normal spot. I think we may have to do this sort of thing again...In addition to being a special place to stay, the Ojai Valley Inn also has a really great golf course so we played in the morning in the delightful company of our longtime friend and golf companion, Jacques. Back when we lived in San Diego, the 3 of us used to golf every Sunday afternoon at Singing Hills golf course starting around 3pm and would follow it up with Cadillac margaritas and a great dinner in the bar. Needless to say, we were really happy and grateful that Jacques was willing and able to drive all the way up from San Diego that morning and play golf with us.
