We've had a rough time with the cats, as cute as they are. This is not really news!
But of course Eli got hit by a car last week and then yesterday we found out that Sugar has been bullying the neighbor Sally's cat Misty. Apparently Sugar has been climbing onto the roof of Sally's conservatory and tapping her paw on the glass ceiling to irritate Misty who is sleeping inside. What a cheeky cat! Sugar also enjoys eating Misty's food and sleeping on Sally's bed, and with the weather improving it is getting harder and harder for Sally to shoo Sugar out. We gave Sally a water pistol (squirt gun) a few months ago to help get Sugar out, but actually it turns out that Sugar LIKES being squirted with water! Seriously, we got some strange kittens!
Long story short, we decided yesterday to re-home the cats. So today (Rhodri's and my 15th wedding anniversary, by the way), I sent out a short email to the school PTA just announcing this decision and asking for people to spread the word to anyone who might want some 10 month old kittens. Lo and behold, 5 minutes later I got a text from someone called Nicola who was very excited about the prospect. I convinced her to come over to "meet" the kittens as soon as possible that day, so a couple of hours later she turned up with her two sons Reuben and Eli !! A match made in heaven. They were so happy to have the kittens and we were so happy to give them to a new home, we could hardly believe our luck.
Given the name coincidence of Eli and Eli, we suspect that cat Eli will soon be renamed "Sparkle" or "Unicorn", as this is what boy Eli had mentioned he thought were good names for cats.
