Downhill skiing - first day!

We decided to bite the bullet and let the kids try downhill (aka "alpine") skiing for the first time. We ventured over to the "Storlien Alpinsenter" to rent skis, poles, boots, and helmets for all 4 of us + arrange for 1 hour of lessons for the kids that afternoon. Whoa does that add up! Holy smokes! Anyway, that is what we did. We all went to the bunny slope and the kids tried skiing by themselves for an hour or so before stopping for lunch and then having their lesson. Rhodri stood halfway up the bunny slope and I stood at the bottom to help kids get onto the towbar. Both Tryfan and Rhiannon figured it out right away and started really having fun going up and down.

So they had an hour's instruction from 1:30 - 2:30 pm with Antonia, during which time Rhodri and I did some exploring of the mountain ourselves. Neither of us have been on downhill skis for many many years, so it felt a bit strange. I forgot how much I hate the ski boots! Actually, I really dislike the whole scene but hey, it's not about me...
Anyway, after the lesson the kids were totally pumped and they had learned how to stop and also how to turn a little bit! They loooovved Antonia and begged for another lesson the next day, so we arranged that before leaving the slopes for the day around 3:30 pm. They sure had a great time though!
T & R super stoked to be allowed to fill a bag each

On the way back to the hostel, we stopped to buy groceries at Coop so we could cook our own meals in the shared kitchen area. Lo and behold, there was a whole aisle devoted to sweets ("godteri" in norsk, something similar in svensk)! We said they could put some sweets each into their own bags to have for the whole trip, but we didn't realize how big the bags were! Turned out that we spent about £12 just on their bags of sweets... Anyway, we had some macaroni, cheese and swedish meatballs for supper and slept well before our next day on the slopes.
