Stormy times

It has been really stormy here the past few weeks (months?). Not very cold, but very wet! Our village is on high ground in the Ashdown Forest, but other parts of the country are experiencing a lot of flooding which has dominated the news over here. We have been busy with work and normal early February life routine, but occasionally the bright thing in the sky breaks out from behind all the clouds.

We had our last Forest School day and did some Forest Olympics inspired by the Sochi Olympics going on right now. We did the "Stick Javelin" event and the "Beech Tree Biathlon" (which involved running around a circuit through the site and then picking up Beech nuts and throwing them into a bucket before running and sliding in the mud. The grand finale was the "Long Puddle Jump" where we got to jump into a really big and deep puddle that we'd been avoiding all season.

In other news, the kids have been doing really well at swimming. Tryfan actually moved up to the next level, but then he was not quite ready to be swimming in the deep end so he moved back to his other class.

So we haven't had many photo opportunities lately, and nothing really too notable to write about, but that's not all bad either.
