Bears

We went for a little family walk today, just up the road further up valley past the ranch.
Suddenly Rhodri turned straight back around and whispered "BEAR!!" to me and we quickly started making our way back. We had seen the HUGE back end of a light golden haired bear who was wading up the creek and going around a corner. We didn't see his/ her upper back, so we didn't see if there was the telltale hump of a grizzly bear, but this bear was the right color and his butt was ginormous!

It wasn't until we were about 10 minutes back down the road that we realized we should have tried to take a photo. Oh well. We took this one instead!

And actually, later on today we ended up seeing a different bear with her 2 cubs! The dogs had chased them up a tree and we saw them through the binoculars from the comfort of Judy & Joe's awesome kitchen window. So already today we saw 4 bears (and we lived to tell about it!). Very exciting.
