Meeting Dave halfway

I arranged a meet up with my old pal Dave. Since he lives in Southampton and I live in Chelwood Gate, we found a place that was half way between and then both left our respective houses at the same time. It took 1 hr 15 min to get to the Black Rabbit Pub on the banks of the river in Arundel. So exhilarating to shut down my work computer for the week and dash out of the house to do a bit of a solo road trip through the East Sussex countryside in the waning daylight.

We went for a lovely (though muddy) walk along the river bank and looped around close to the Arundel Castle, then back along the road to the pub in time for our 6:15 pm seating.

They had really great food - absolutely delicious! Such a treat to sit across the table from my long time friend and catch up over several hours in person. We vowed to do it again soon.

On my drive back home, I listened to a really interesting podcast called "The Town That Didn't Stare", which is all about East Grinstead and surrounding areas which include where we live.
It's fascinating to learn about the history of this place we live.
