Ladies away, boys home to play

This week I was in Cornwall for a conference while Rhiannon went to Cardiff to stay with Auntie Sioned and family.  We both set out on Monday morning and returned home Friday afternoon.  Tryfan had more of his GCSE exams this week, so he was working hard and keeping his head down preparing for those every day and night, and Rhodri had a busy week too.  We are really looking forward to our upcoming vacation to Italy starting June 19th!  But first things first.

I took the bus and train over to Paddington and met Logan who was arriving on a flight from Denver.  We got on the train to Falmouth via Truro, and it all started fine but then we had some significant delays on our journey due to various train problems.  Sigh. Anyway, eventually we made it to Falmouth and found our AirBnB (which was awesome).  We headed out to stretch our legs and find dinner, and soon the memory of the lonnnng journey faded into the beautiful seaside air which is Gyllyngvase Beach.  What a gorgeous place this is.

We walked over to Swanpool Beach, which is just around the corner from Gyllyngvase Beach, and had a beverage outside on a table at Hooked on the Rocks.  The evening light was beautiful and there were people swimming in sea.

The next day we spent time at a client's office and went to the drill site where they are drilling a geothermal well.  They have piled up haybales and covered them with tarps to provide a sound barrier, and it does actually work really well!
Then the conference took place on Wed and Thursday, with events every evening.  It is a great conference because of all the social opportunities.  But honestly, my social battery was not quite at full charge after Marrakesh even though that was a couple of weeks ago now!
Our 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom flat was literally across the street from the conference venue at Princess Pavilion, and a 5 minute walk to the gorgeous Gyllyngvase beach in one direction, and about a 10 minute walk to the main street of town.  Perfect location, and with high ceilings and super comfy bedding, I just loved staying here.
Gyllyngvase beach has a restaurant, a casual cafe, a community sauna (!!), SUP and kayak rentals, outside showers, clean and free toilets, and a lovely sandy gentle sloping beach.  I went for a morning swim every day we were here except for the one morning it was pouring rain.
Another view of the beach, from the south side.
