Pentagon tour!

Today was a special day anyway because it was our 14th wedding anniversary, but it was also special because we got to go on a tour of the Pentagon!! Dave (from the zoo reunion a few days ago) is working there and he invited us to come for a personal tour with his colleague Mike. We couldn't take many pictures except for outside the building...
Outside the Pentagon, ready to go for a visit
It was a really great visit, and some things we remember are that it has 5 sides, 5 rings, 5 floors and 10 corridors. It is the largest office building in the world, and 24,000 people work here - a mix of military and civilian types of people. It is like a miniature city inside with all the shops and services you could possibly need, and some corridors have ramps so that cars can drive around inside. The post is delivered by tricycle!
Some more interesting facts are here...
The best part was hearing Mike's stories. He has worked here more than 20 years and was just down the hall on 9-11 when the plane struck the building. It was pretty amazing to hear some of his stories, though of course he couldn't tell us very much because so much of what happens here is secret! It was an absolute privilege to be able to get a personal tour here, and with such lovely people as well. Thanks Mike and Dave!

After the tour, we made our way to Georgetown to walk around. It wasn't that interesting but we did stop for ice cream at Ben and Jerry's

As for our anniversary, we were able to go out for dinner last night to this place near Will and Rebecca - Acre 121. They were having pub quiz night and it was perfect for us to be relaxed and celebrate our 14 years together in this relaxed and fun atmosphere.
