Today was a funny day.
We had planned to use a
zipcar for the day since Rebecca still has a subscription to this service. We wanted to be able to fit all 6 of us into the car (minus Will, who had to be at work for the day) and then drive out to the
Air and Space Museum near Dulles airport and then go shopping at Tyson's Corner.
Rebecca and I walked while pushing Phoebe in the stroller to the zipcar location, and found that the minivan she had ordered was gone! Then she discovered that they had changed her reservation without her consent and given her a sedan car instead, which of course wouldn't be able to fit 3 adults and 3 children. So we started walking sadly back home (after she exhausted all options with the zipcar people on the phone) and called around to different rental car companies on the way. We found 1 that did have a giant SUV that would fit all of us in it, but it was about 30 minutes walking the opposite direction. So we turned around and picked that up, then drove back to the house to get Rhodri, Rhiannon and Tryfan. Finally by about 11:30am we were on the road out to the Air and Space Museum.
This place is famous in our household because it is where part of Transformers 2 was filmed. They even had a video monitor showing the scene that is filmed here, which of course the troops thought was great. We saw a lot of planes, helicopters, and various other things that go up into the sky. Seeing the actual space shuttle was pretty cool, and so was seeing the workshop where technicians restore donated aircraft into a presentable state.

We did make a quick trip to Tyson's Corner to do some shopping. Rhodri was looking for some particular shoes but nobody had them. We had to look though!
When we got home to Will and Rebecca's house, we had some pizza and margaritas and then said our goodbyes before going to bed because the kids and I were going to leave at 4:15am the next morning!
