Deck work and haircuts

Gosh, it has been gorgeous weather the past few days. We have a solid forecast, and it is the Easter holiday period, so we decided to do the annual deck maintenance. Fortunately we were able to source some new hardwood deck oil from a different vendor, and hopefully this type will last longer and do a better job than the last one we used.
It is quite a time consuming process: first pressure washing (that was Rhiannon's job last weekend), then sanding with our vacuum-bagged sander, then hoovering to remove the dust, then oiling.  It is just a bit tricky because we don't want to have the sander going when it might disturb the neighbors, and the oil can't go on if it is too hot or too wet/ rainy. So we have been working mainly in the evenings after the heat of the day is over.  Anyway, it is actually a pleasure doing this job since the ipe wood is so beautiful, and each plank is individual.

In other news, Tryfan has needed his hair cut and since we can't go see our normal hairdresser, Rhiannon has taken the task into her own hands.  It actually turned out pretty well, which was surprising since there was a lot of laughter and shrieking over a couple of hours this afternoon.
