Scarifying for the winter

Now that we only have child labor for a couple more days, we squeezed in one more big job for them: scarifying (thatching) the lawn. Niiiice. It took awhile because the scarifier kept tripping out.

To be fair, they did a good job of raking and bagging the thatchings and moss. We will compost some of it but learned that one needs to have a separate unit for composting these, which we don't have at the minute. Hopefully our lawn will be happy now that the dead stuff and moss underneath has been removed.
