To the skogen
On Wednesday and Thursday, we visited our old friends from barnehage out in the forest (skogen). The weather was rainy and cool - perfect for playing in puddles and small streams! We also found lots of teeny tiny baby frogs, cantarell mushrooms (which we later sauteed over the fire and ate), and big fat ripe plentiful blueberries. Here is the whole class, with Tryfan and Rhiannon in front.
Rhiannon picking wild blueberries with her old friend Tora
Tryfan climbing on the spiderweb. Its hard to see, but the rope he is standing on is about 3 feet off the ground. He fell off a few times when he was first trying it, but he soon figured out a strategy for balancing and moving at the same time.
I had been talking to Kamilla who is one of the teachers, and I turned around to see Tryfan had climbed quite high up on a tree ladder and was standing nonchalantly holding on with one hand!
We found a place where water was running underneath the footpath via a drainage pipe, and the kids thought it was brilliant fun to send flowers, leaves, sticks and soon a VERY big stick through the pipe as well. Good chance to practice cooperation skills, as Tryfan and Rhiannon demonstrate below!
After a couple of hours playing, we went back to the lavvo (tipi) to have snacktime and for Kamilla to write in the daily journal about the day.
Here is one of the teeny tiny frogs! So cute!
I wish we could have stayed out in the forest for longer, but we were grateful for the opportunity in the first place.
